How video should be used on social media

I genuinely believe that every business should be using video in some form or another on social media. And there's two reasons for all that.

Firstly, as humans, our brains process video 60,000 times faster than text. What that means is that your customers can engage and understand your message much easier and quicker than text.

The other point is social media platforms love video. And the reason for that is that videos helps you stay on their site for longer, which ultimately is what they want you to do.

Before you even pick up a camera, or speak to a video agency, you need to be crystal clear on what your objective is. So, why are you creating this video? What are you looking to achieve? Are you looking to increase brand awareness online? Are you looking to sell a product? Or are you looking to generate leads?

Once you've decided on your objective, you then need to be really clear as to who your target audience is. The reason for that is you need to create content that is relevant and specific to them. Once you know who your audience is you can then determine what platform they like to be on. By doing this, you're targeting the right people on the right platform with the right content.

So, once you've done all your preparation and planning, the next thing to do is to get your video content out there. So, there's a number of different things that you can do to help achieve better results.

So, firstly, you need to upload your video natively to the platform that you're gonna be using. This achieves a 10 times higher reach than compared to if you just put a YouTube link. The other thing you need to do is always add subtitles. 85% of videos on social media are watched without sound so, without subtitles that's a large chunk of your target audience not getting your message.

So, a good thumbnail is also vitally important, because this is the first thing that people are gonna see. And that's what they're gonna use to decide whether they wanna watch your video.

You also need to have a really good description. This is essentially your headline in a newspaper. This is what you're gonna use to grab people's attention and make your target audience understand that this content is for them.

So, you've posted your video, so it's really important that you engage with people on there. You also need to evaluate has the video worked. Has it matched up with the goals you've set? Has it been a success?
